Abby, 11, and Rebecca, 14, are sisters from Los Angeles, California. Abby loves to bake, and Rebecca loves to act and sing. Both sisters love to read and can often be found curled up with some good books.
Shortly after they were born, they were each diagnosed with Type 1 Gaucher disease, a rare genetic disorder. From the beginning, Chai Lifeline was there to support the girls and their family every step of the way through a variety of programs and services. Today, the girls participate in their local Chai Lifeline West Coast big sisters program, where they are paired with teen mentors. Both Abby and Rebecca started attending Camp Simcha at age 10, and love “the way it feels like family.”
Through it all, their special bond with each other keeps them strong. Their message to others experiencing challenges is to “not give up, there will always be people out there for you. You just need to reach out and find that person.”
